scenes from colorado

I'm back from my wonderful vacation to Colorado!  I have never been to Colorado before and I must say it was one of the most beautiful places I have ever been to.

Our trip started off with a little snag by getting snowed in at Dulles airport in DC.  Good thing my older brother who lives in DC battled through what he called "snowmageddon" to pick us up so we didn't have to sleep in the airport with the hundreds of other travelers whose flights also got cancelled!  He is such a good brother...I owe him big time :)  Me and the BF couldn't catch another flight until late the next day so we decided to enjoy DC and rode the metro, went and explored the Air and Space Museum, ate some pizza, and made our merry way back to the airport to fly out to Denver.

So we finally made it to Denver and met up with our friends.  We spent Friday exploring Boulder, Colorado which was so pretty.  I definitely could live in a city like Boulder.  It reminded me of a mix between Asheville, NC and Greenville, SC.  Asheville for the hippie vibe and Greenville for the newness/cleanliness of the downtown area.  We enjoyed some brunch, walked around and did some window shopping, enjoyed some beer from some of the many local breweries, and then headed to Breckenridge.

We spent the rest of our weekend skiing at Breckenridge and Vail.  I have only been skiing one time before.  The first day skiing I struggled a little bit until some nice woman on the mountain helped me out and gave me a quick little lesson so I could make it down the hill without falling down for the fifty bazillionth time.  She was my lifesaver that day.  The next day at Vail, I was much improved and had a great time actually skiing without falling every other minute.

Yesterday we made it home (though we thought we might get snowed in Chicago where our connecting flight was but we made it out of there...thank goodness).  I had a great vacation but I am glad to be back here in Charleston where the high today is in the 60's!

I caught up on all my favorite blogs this morning...now its time to look through the new issues of Rue, Matchbook Magazine, and High Gloss!!!  Happy Tuesday!
