I am feeling a little overwhelmed by how busy these next few weeks will be.  Mostly a good busy but busy nonetheless.  I leave Wednesday for a little vacation to West Virginia with the BF.  I have decided to take a blogcation this week as well.

After a little paint, I have a new look to the built-in shelves in my apartment.  Those shelves have been driving me crazy for quite some time.  I feel much better about them with the new color.  Although, I still have a ways to go on "decorating" the shelves.  Creating a pretty bookshelf is not easy!  I like them much better already though.

 Louie is anxiously waiting for the new Harry Potter movie to come out tomorrow.  I might be a little excited about it too.  Anyone else pumped?!

How on earth have I missed Secrets from a Stylist for so long?!?!?!  I followed Emily Henderson on DesignStar and loved her.  Now that I don't have cable, I couldn't keep up with her new TV show.  I  recently figured out you could watch the episodes at HGTV.com and I have been watching Secrets from a Stylist non-stop.  I am pretty much obsessed with Emily Henderson and her amazing talent.  I love how the rooms she designs are never fussy and that there is always a mid-century piece thrown in.  I also really enjoy Emily Henderson as a host.  She has a very relaxed approach to decorating and you can tell she really loves her job.  Yep, it is pretty much my new favorite show.

a new experience.

A couple months ago, the master bathroom at my Dad's house flooded.  Due to the water damage, the bathroom now needs refinishing.  My Dad (not having a clue about design) asked me to help him pick out the materials for the project.  Today, we went to the bath and tile store and made all the selections.  I had the BEST time choosing all the little details.  My dad pretty much let me have free reign.  I chose the tile, grout color, flooring, etc.  It was exhilarating being able to create an entirely new look for the bathroom.  It definitely opened my eyes to the endless possibilities that are available as a homeowner. 

One day I would love to buy an older home and renovate it.  Maybe do some real DIY projects like paint the kitchen cabinets, hang up wallpaper, put down new flooring, and maybe even some landscaping.

I guess I better start saving my pennies....

hmm.

I'm not sure what is exactly drawing me to these pictures....but I like them....a lot.

july 4th weekend.

Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July weekend!  After working Friday and Saturday, I was more than ready to begin my holiday weekend.  The BF was in town and we spent most of the weekend at the beach on Sullivan's Island.  The weather was beautiful and the beach was quiet and relaxing.  Most of the weekend was spent enjoying the sunshine, reading magazines, throwing the football, exploring Charleston, watching fireworks, and eating LOTS of ice cream.  It was such a great weekend.  Me and the BF agreed it almost felt like we were on vacation even though we were still here in Charleston :)
