around here.

I thought I would share how things are coming along here around here. As some of you may know, we just relocated to Nashville about a month ago from North Carolina. Seeing as I have been without a job after moving (I start my new job next week!) I've had ample time to get settled in. Lucky for us, the floor plan of our rental is similar to our old home so our furniture has fit in nicely. There is some more work to do before our place feels "complete" but I'm happy with how things have come together.

lately.

I have been really happy with my little home as of late.  It feels like it is almost complete.

This weekend the BF and I drove to Maryland for a friend's wedding.  The couple wrote their own vows and there was not a dry eye in the house.  It was so sweet.

Hope you felt some love this weekend too.  Happy Monday.

lately.

1.  Finally got around to "styling" a bit around the house.  It has made such a huge difference.
2.  Made one of my favorite homemade desserts for Easter Sunday- angel food cake.
3.  Newest addition to our gallery wall- "I'm So Happy" print by TwoSarahs.
4.  Spring has arrived and I'm loving the pretty flowers blooming in our yard.
5.  Another "styling" shot with my favorite design books + John Kostick bronze star.
6.  GPOC- gratuitous picture of my cat.

I fell in love with Lauren Moffatt's home as soon as I saw it in the April issue of Lucky magazine.  The flea market finds, bold patterns, and mid-century modern furniture throughout her Manhattan home work beautifully together.  I was impressed to find that most items in her home are pretty affordable too.  Many items are from West Elm!  I love attainable design.

Happy Friday!

weekend project: gallery wall.

This past weekend, BF and I finally tackled our gallery wall project.  Here is the whole process, from beginning to end, via instagram:

1. The "before" photo- floating shelves left from the previous tenant. Not really my taste.
2.  Our template (made of sheets of paper taped together) measuring the area of wall we wanted to cover.
3.  The layout- we played around with our artwork on the template until we found the perfect arrangement.
4.  Next, we traced the frames onto the template and then measured and marked where each nail should go.
5.  The template was then hung on the wall and we hammered our nails in the spots we had marked on the template.
6.  The "after" photo- our new gallery wall.  I love it so much.

Hope you all had a great weekend.  Happy Monday.

lately.

Another lovely weekend in the books.

1.  On our road trip to Raleigh- the BF thinks it is funny I drive with both hands on the wheel.
2.  After sneaking down to some better seats (shh! don't tell!), we enjoyed the Hurricanes game that went into overtime.
3. My latest thrift store find- this little vintage clock that is still fully functional!
4.  Oh, Louie.
5.  A view of our little shed in the backyard.
6.  I finally have some striped bedding (original post here)!  New striped pillow cases and coverlet from West Elm.

Happy Monday!

so far.

This weekend was my first weekend here in Charlotte.  It was nice and relaxing.  The BF and I spent our time shopping for a few things for the house, trying new recipes (including this french toast recipe-very yummy), watching season 2 of Downton Abbey (I am obsessed), and painting one of the bedrooms a pale grey.

We are still getting things settled in our home but I thought I would share a few pictures of the place so far.  It is definitely a work in progress!

Hope you had a lovely weekend.
